Welcome to the Hartford Firefighters Retirees Association

This is more than a website—it’s a gathering place for those who wore the uniform, stood the watch, and shared the bond that only the fire service can create.

The Hartford Fire Retirees Association exists to keep that bond alive. We’re a community of living members who continue to look out for one another, share the stories that shaped us, and honor the legacy of those who came before. Our strength today is built on their service and sacrifice.

Here, you’ll find updates, event info, and member news—along with a growing archive of photos and memories that reflect the pride, grit, and heart of the Hartford Fire Department. Every name, every face, every moment is a reminder of what we built together.

To our fellow retirees: stay connected, stay involved, and stay proud. This is your home.

In Memoriam

With all of the losses we have had this year, please indulge me with the following thoughts.

I looked at my reflection and what did I see,

A very tired old man looking back at me.

I gazed at him trying to read his mind,

I reckoned it was from a youthful time.

He knew he had younger times with a life full of zest,

Now walking a straight line was a test.

His heart was filled with love and compassion,

Trying to be a good guy was his passion.

A gentleman not known to look for a fight,

His life was happy and his smile a delight.

As he stared back at me with sad drooping eyes,

You can see he suffered to many good-byes.
